To participate in the Tattoo Contest, you must register: there will be a registration area at the event, or you can do it yourself online

To register for the event, you must come on the day of the chosen nomination for submitting information and photographing the tattoo. Participation in the contest costs 500 RUB unless you're renting an exhibition booth.

Registered online before entering the stage should receive the number of the Contest participant in the registration are       a. The number is issued without waiting in the zone marked "ON-LINE". Participation in the contest is free.

The stylistic separation is conditional due to subjectivity and depends entirely on the competence of the organizers of the competition. The style of work is determined at the time of registration of the participant based on his personal wishes. Each work has the right to participate in only one nomination.

Best Miniature Tattoo.

A tattoo of any style that does not exceed 10 x 10 cm in size. Only one tattoo on a model is eligible for the nomination.

Best Lettering Tattoo.

The artistic image of letters and inscriptions on the human body. Lettering is more than just choosing a successful font; it's rather a way to accentuate the contours of the body, with a massive emphasis on letters as a plot component.

The artwork will be judged based on the following criteria listed below in priority order:
1. Author's component
2. Subjective impression.
3. Compositional components: 
    a. Detailing
    b. Dynamics
4. Tattooing technique
5. Time spent on sessions
    6. How much time has gone since the last session


Best Cover Up Tattoo.

A tattoo, which is a complete cover-up of the old tattoo with a completely new drawing. No tattoos covered partially or corrections of the original work accepted for the nomination.

For participation in this nomination at check-in, you must provide a qualitative photo of an old tattoo!

The artwork will be judged based on the following criteria listed below in priority order:

2. Tattoo technique / Cleanliness of performance (The size of the cover-up, its complexity are taken into account)

Portraits of unknown persons (relatives, writers, characters of unpopular or very old movies, etc.) are allowed if there is a photo.

A tattoo that goes beyond any part of the body and constitutes a single composition - leg and back, back and buttocks, back and shoulders, torso and hips, as well as other combinations. Style and technique - any.

The best work made from start to finish during the first day of the Festival. Monochrome tattoo on a body. Colored elements up to 5% of the entire tattoo size are acceptable. Any style. Tattoos partially made before the beginning of the Festival are not allowed for participation in the Award.

The tattoo must be in deep black, with sharp contours and shadows as a linear cross-hatching. Combinations with Dotwork, Blackwork, Wipshading styles are allowed..

Best Ornamental Tattoo.

Ornament, translated from Latin, ornamentum - decoration - a pattern based on the repetition and alternation of its geometric, plant or animal elements. An ornamental tattoo can be a symbolic description of the world or just a body decoration. This style includes: Polynesian tattoo, Mayan tattoo, Celtic, Indian, Maori, Slavic ornamental tattoos, geometry, tribal.

Best Oriental Tattoo.

Tattoo with classic Japanese scenes, usually covering the whole body or most of it. It may be color or black and white. It depicts Japanese motifs: dragons, tigers, Asian legends heroes, carps, lotuses, boiling water, sakura flowers. Each picture is full of allegories and symbols, contains many elements.

Best New School Tattoo. 

This style can be distinguished by bright colors, three-dimensional drawings in cartoon style; drawings executed in graffiti technique when the image has a contour, but its borders are not outlined, and colors mixed often, contrasting with each other. New School style implies using characters of comic books and cartoons, fantasy and humorous plots.

Best Old School Tattoo.

Old school style tattoos are characterized by bright and rich colors, thick contours. Tattoos in this style usually do not feature three-dimensional images, nor realistically depicted objects, the correctness of forms is also unimportant in this style. They remind us about the sea, traveling to distant countries, and dangerous adventures. They point us back to the roots of the style.

The artwork will be judged based on the following criteria listed below in priority order:

Best Sketch.

This year we chose a theme for the Sketch Competition of the 18th Moscow TF2020: "Poster for the 19th Moscow Tattoo Festival 2021".

1.The drawing must represent that the convention is held in Moscow by using motifs of the city - architecture, characters, etc.;
2. Any style is accepted, no limitations for your fantasy;
3. Size - 400 mm x 420 mm.
4. М It can be drawn on a computer or on paper/canvas/wood/glass/ carved in stone, etc., although the additional point is awarded to the drawn (not a computer) version;
5. The original of the work must be submitted for the contest, which will remain with the organizers;
6. To submit an electronic poster, you have to either bring it on a flash drive in 600 dpi, in tiff format, or email it to nazimova@inbox.ru 5 days before the convention starts. It is also necessary to have a printed version of the poster, which also remains with the organizers.

Best Neotraditional Tattoo

The peculiarity of this style are bright colors, three-dimensional drawings in the cartoon style, drawings made in the technique of graffiti, when the image has an outline, but its borders are not marked and the colors are often mixed, contrasting with each other. In the style of New School, you can often see comic and cartoon characters, fantasy and humorous stories.

The artwork will be judged based on the following criteria listed below in priority order:

Best Collaboration Tattoo.

A tattoo made by two or more masters. The tattoo must cover any part of the body or go beyond it (e.g.: leg, leg and arm, both arms, torso, and both arms). Registration in this category is preliminary until March 1, 2020! You can register by writing to model@tattoo-festival.ru or Anastasia Danya .
It is also necessary to provide photos of the process (sketch / freehand, intermediate sessions of tattooing by all collaborators). Videos of the process are welcomed.

New Name of the Festival

Only those tattoo artists, whose works for the first time presented at the Festival, took at least two prizes in one or different nominations, have a chance to become the winner of this category. It can also be a new studio - an exhibitor, participating for the first time, but has proven itself by actively participating in competitions, in preparation for the Festival, or just a great team, won the hearts of participants, visitors, and organizers with the charm of its team members.

The selection criteria do not depend on anything, the prize is awarded by the organizer of the Festival - Olga Nazimova.
